Abby, in junior high, was given an assignment a few weeks ago to write about someone she admires. This is the essay. Abby is pretty awesome, too.
Josey Grace
My cousin Josey is strong. She was diagnosed with Lyme disease in December of 2013. Bravely, she struggled through hospital visits, unbearable pain, and was accused on numerous occasions of faking. It makes me sad to see her lay in bed all day, because she hurts too much to move, but I know she’s slowly getting better and one day she’ll be healed. She’s tough as nails. I’m very excited to see Josey having more and more good days where she can leave the house and drive somewhere. Josey will be a senior in high school next year and hopefully she’ll be well enough to go back to Collierville High. Josey, who is the second oldest of my five cousins on my mom’s side, has always been fun to hang out with. At Christmas two years ago, Josey, her sister Courtney, and another cousin rode together on our way home from the Christmas Eve service. Courtney played “I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas” on her phone and we sang it all the way home. I think we nearly drove Josey crazy! I pray every day that Josey is healed soon so we can jump on the trampoline, ride four wheelers, and play in the mud together again.
